I don't know whether you are in the Pee-can or the Pe-Cahn camp but either way I LOVE pecans (and btw I am in the Pee-can group!). Having these around as a go to snack is a must in my household. They are super easy to make and stay crispy, crunchy, salty, spicy and sweet for up to two weeks if they make it that long.
You can use the recipe with other nuts but the pecans hold onto the flavor really well because of the inherent cracks and crevices in the nut. Don't skimp on the sea salt as they off set the maple syrup nicely.
These nuts have a great amount of plant protein to sustain your energy through the day. Don't eat too many at a time though....just 6-7 nuts will do the trick as a serving size.
2 tbsp maple syrup
1 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp chili powder or cayenne pepper
1 cup pecan halves
1.Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
2. Coat pecans with maple syrup, salt and pepper. Place them on a sheet pan.
3. Roast until golden brown and they smell toasty, approximately 10-12 minutes. Store extra in an airtight container.
